Want to make a change in your home? How about adding a pattern to your walls? Chris Olsen shows you how.
Do you notice anything different about these walls? Yes, you might be thinking that it is alligator skin and that is exactly what it looks like. We went ahead and took these molds and regular drywall plaster and did a design on the walls. You can do almost any type of skin that you want. Ostrich skin, that type of thing, but the alligator has really big scales so it looks wonderful.
This is just something different that you might want to do. Now what makes it look good is it is "toned down." Now I could have painted it a different color that the rest of the wall to "punch it out" but I went ahead and did a nice soft ivory color right over it which matched the rest of the room.
What that does, it's kind of subtle, it's not in your face and it's very tasteful. It will work almost in any home. What really makes a wall look great is also the art. I always tell people - don't just buy anything to fill in space. Leave it empty until you find the right thing.
You can find inexpensive art anywhere if you just shop right. Flea markets, even garage sales, estate sales are the best when it comes to finding art - even charity events is where I found this piece. It's a little bit funky - it's fun - but that is why I like it because people notice it because it's different.
They don't forget a little bit of color. The color in this room comes from this beautiful purple orchid. Phalaenopsis Orchids in these zinc little jars or urns are wonderful for the corner of the room. The end result is you have a beautiful room that catches your eye.
